Go therefore and make diciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. (Matthew 28, 19-20)
Full of confidence in this promise of the Lord, we continue the way of Christians through the ages. As monks, we are called to the work of the Saviour. On the 2nd of Feburary 2001, the missionary Benedictines of St. Ottilien founded a new monastery: Monte Irago.
The new foundation was established along a route whereby many travel not only a desintation (Compostela), but also an encouter with the Lord, who came to us in order to saves us.
The Way of St. James and the Benedictine monastery became united as has occurred throughout history and in Rabanal, the village of the young community of Monte Irago. The community inhabits a small building, found in front of the romanesque church of Our Lady of the Ascension of Rabanal del Camino.
